Tahoe Park is a flourishing neighborhood in Central Sacramento. It is considered more middle class, yet eclectic and colorful, compared to other upscale neighborhoods, but it’s quickly growing in prominence. What it lacks in wealth though, it makes up for in personality, character and amity.
The area is defined by the 19-acre Tahoe Park, which houses a swimming pool and wading pool, playgrounds, horseshoe pit, lighted softball/soccer field, and basketball and volleyball courts. A dedicated homeowners association has made the park the focal point of the community. Residents now come out regularly for the Tahoe Park Starlight Movie Series, concerts in the park, and numerous food truck events (newcomers to the Sacramento area will quickly learn how these mobile culinary delights have developed a faithful league of foodie followers).
The association keeps its neighborhood cohesive by building community spirit and social responsibility with food and clothing drives. There’s also a holiday mixer and spring bowling tournament.
Tahoe Park is home to several noteworthy eateries. Café Lumiere offers more than a dozen different croissants with specialty coffees, along with a delectable breakfast and lunch menu. MoMo’s Meat Market, is probably best known for its spare ribs, tri tip and chicken, but as Sacramento writer Allen Pierleoni also notes it’s also a “social scene for neighbors who come for the ‘cue and the camaraderie.”
Area residents’ affinity for all things good is attracting more businesses to the area, as midtown’s famous Bacon and Butter is set to bring its seasonal “scratch-made” meals to the corner of 59th and Broadway the summer of 2014.
